Fish Dying

Please if anybody would be able to help me with this problem i would be most grateful. My tank has been set up for 2 years now for the first 18 months i added fish slowly until it was comfortably populated i lost the odd fish along the way but on the whole my fish were happy. The problem began about 6 months ago when my fish one by one were dying until they were all dead. since then i have tried everything to solve the problem, adding uv filtrtion to my tank, upgrading my skimmer, adding more flow, renewing my ro/di filter. The thing that i do not understand is my corals have been fine. On two occassions i have left the tank 2 months before trying to add fish, on both occasions the fish are fine for a couple of days then they start breathing rapidly and swimming erratically until they die, most recently this week when i added 5 chromis now only 2 remaining. Water parameters are.

Nitrite 0, Ammonia 0, nitrate 5.0 , Magnesium 1180 ,calcium 420,kh 8dkh, ph 8.0 -8.3, temp 77.2, sg 1.026,

Using carbon and rowaphos in canister filter.

Any Thoughts

Chromis generally attack each other until there is only 1 left so I would say this is normal.

Other than that I can't help much as everything else sounds good.

Are you sure the test kits are still good? Did you keep with regular water changes? I know it sounds dumb but fish and livestock become accustom to their conditions over time. If you started doing bizarre amounts of water changes when fish began to die, it seams possible the rest could have been affected by the sudden change. I would think the coral would have gone that route as well though???
