Unhappy The MOST DISGUSTING thing just happened.

So I am at Staples getting some supplies.
Right next door is Petco, I think to myself "I need a coulpe Astrea".
I rarely shop there but I need some snails, I pop in get, 5 snails, they put them in this huge bag full of water.

I get home to acclimate them (my sump is currently a 125 tank in the garage) and I am standing over my sump with my acclimation containers.
I set the bag on the center brace and it POPS!!!

The entire bag of water goes into my tank!!!

Not ever "seen".
I spent 10 months in Saudi, Kuwait and Irag during Desert Storm.

Somehow I figured this was going to involve skimmate being ingested...

I brought home a small damsel from a petstore like that one day... My kids wanted to hold the bag so I let them.
Then they started to argue who should hold the bag and the next thing I krew they dropped it.
That bag also popped! Water all over and a damsel flopping on the carpet!

He survived tho.

ew gross...

I have a gross skimmate story for you Treg

A few months ago I was emptying my skimmer cup. I had put the cup on the counter next to my laundry sink, and was cleaning the lid. When I went to pick up the cup, somehow my motor skills lagged and I knocked the whole full BK 250 SM cup of coffee dark skimmate.... right onto my crotch and inside my pants.

I just about threw up from the feel and smell.

Never will do that again *crosses fingers and legs*

but I've since spilled (less) skimmate into my sump twice

The most disguisting thing ever (even worse than aforementioned skimmate incident)was when my dog snuck some meatballs off of the coffee table when I left the room.

lets just say it didn't sit well with his digestive system and we had to clean the floors AND the walls.

Since there were hermits and snails in the tank I doubt there was copper in it thankfully.

now now, not ALL PETCOs are that bad. I certainly wouldn't purposefully add water from the one I work at to any of my tanks but I wouldn't totally freak out about it either (at least from one of the invert tanks, I've got copper going through the fish onlys)

Look on the bright side. They were snails so the water they came in had to be good enough to keep them alive. If it was from a fish only system, copper would surely be a concern.
