big angels and coral
what kind of coral can you safely keep with big angel fish? I know they nip at some more than others it appears as I've seen photos of big tanks with corals and several big angels swimming around. I don't want make the mistake of buying animals and have them get eaten, since I really hope to achieve a balance between corals and one big angel in my 180. Any thoughts?

Depends on the angel, what one are you looking at? It all comes down to each individual fish, some nip, some don't, and some destroy. I have a small queen, french and rock beauty in my 210g. I am slowly adding frags from my reef to see what works and what doesn't. IMO these are the worst angels for a reef though.

scribbled (if I can afford it), a queen, passer or perhaps an annularis. I have a small adult French that just changed and a small adult coloration emperor in my 210. so I wanted to try something else.
Unfortunately for me my three favorite types of fish are wrasses, big angels and Triggers.....tangs are a given but with my 180 I really wanted to add in corals, inverts and anemones. I know I can't have a big coris or lunare wrasse cruising around eating all the inverts or triggers for that matter. I cool with that but a Nice big statement Angel would be too cool among the corals. |
