Sawtooth caulerpa in refugium...
A fellow reefer gave me a good softball size piece of Caulerpa Serrulata (razor/sawtooth) and some Cheato for my refugium. Is this type of Caulerpa ok to keep? Is it likely to go sexual?
It's got all sorts of critters in it so I'd like to keep it in but not if it's too risky. Thanks in advance... |

You'll find mixed opinions on this. Personally I have had grape caulerpa in my fuge for a year with no problems. Having said that caulerpa can go sexual so the possibility definately exists.....HTH

I would stay with the chaeto only my personal opinion i would worry about that stuff taking over my tank if it does decide to go asexual. One more thing that I don't want to worry about. There are enough things to worry about in this hobby cough cough i mean addiction

You can keep it in a fuge, but make sure you have a good algae eater in your tank like a tang of foxface. I keep it in my fuge along with Green and Red Grape Caulerpa and Mexicana. Keep a careful eye on it though or you WILL end up having this in your tank! (I had to learn the hard way)

Chaeto is way better because caulerpa is too invasive.
