Help me with the list please
Well my birthday is in 2 months and my family likes to get ideas on what to get. I have some ideas on other things but I want to throw somethings in there for this tank that I've been trying to get started but been delayed for lots of reason. So with this event coming up I figure I need alot of things why not give them a list to have them help.
Now this tank is 37g tank. I will get the demensions for everyone in a minute I have to go downstairs to get a tape measure. This tank will be a mixed reef. I already looked around and pick out what corals and fish I'd like. With that I figure it would help with some of the ideas on what I should ask for. The only thing I have is the tank, stand, and a Tunze nanostream 6025 powerhead. But here is the list on corals and fish I plan just in case it helps. ( I know the list of fish is alot, trust me there won't be that much it just gives ideas on type of fish ) Coral: -Hawkins BLue Echinata Aquacultured ORA -Frogspawn Coral-Branched -Tooth Coral -Hammer/Anchor Coral -Torch Coral -Clony Polyp Super Colored -Crocea Clam -Flame Scallop (not sure) Fish: -Firefish -Goby -Clownfish -Bicolor Pseudochromis -Purple Stripe Pseudochromis -Six line Wrasse -Lemonpeel Angelfish -Flame Angel -Anthias ( can I get any kind?) -Royal Gramma Basslet -Blood Red Fire Shrimp Now with that information what light fixture would you choose for this setup? I want somthing that makes the coral colors be nice and sharp and have the water be nice a crisp giving off the real affect. lso I would love the mooonlight affect. Due to my size of tank I can only go for 20"fixtures. So the only ones I found were -20" Current USA 6x18w Nova Extreme Pro T5HO 3-10k/3-460nm Actinics -Current USA Sunpod PowerPaq HQI Lamp and Lunar Lights If you have any other suggestions or fixtures please post. Now I figured a RO/DI unit would be neccessary to. I picked out this one, please tell me if I shold get this one or a different one. -The Filter Guys Ocean Wave 5 Stage 75GPD RO/DI Thats all I have right now writing down, I will be needing a form of a filter. When I first got this tank I figured to do a sump so I got the tank drilled. So the tank is already drilled with 2 holes at the top. Should I stick with the sump idea? Anything else you recommend please list. Thank you so much -EWC88( I know the list of fish is alot, trust me there won't be that much in there, it just gives ideas on types of fish I want ) Last edited by EWC88; 03/11/2009 at 06:29 PM. |

T5's definately, 20" Im not sure. Aquactinics, ATI, NOVA, and TEK are all good-not sure about the 20" though.
RODI Unit. Buckeye field supply has a good one at a good price. SKIMMER. A must. Remora, or octopus.(HOB or Sump?) Media reactor. Dual reactor from bulk reef supply ZEOvit starter kit. They also have a competitor now, not too sure the name at the moment. Heaters, fans, controllers, test kits, gloves, nets, sea squirt, addatives, test kits, ATO, I can go on forever. Hate to crash the party, but with your stock list you are better off asking for a new tank and sump/fuge. It looks small at the store, but you have a lot of big animals on that list. HTH Good Luck. (I need a few birthdays a year) |

Yea the list is high but its just a idea on what I want. Cause I know when it comes to lighting it all depends on the corals and all. So that why I went out looked at the ones I like and will be thinking of getting. Not all will be in there unfortanely.
I'll check those brands of lighting and see if they offer anything in 20" |

Slow down!!! Take this thing nice and slow. You will need to trim your fish list down to about 4 or 5 fish maximum if you also want to keep corals. The angel fish most likely will eat your coral so they are the first to strike off the list. Anthias will be a little crowded in a 37 gallon tank.... Do a lot more reading, start with the "first time" thread, read it, then read it all again.

Didn't really see any T5 fixtures that are 20" besides the Current one I listed. I'll keep looking though

No there won't be that many fish like stated above. I know its a huge list I was just giving ideas. Sorry for the confusion. I have made it clearer but everyone please remember that the fish I listed, only a FEW will be pick, NOT ALL OF THEM WILL BE IN THIS TANK. |
