75g upgrade issues

I posted this on my local clubs site, now reaching to a wider audience.

I have a 58g that I will be upgrading to a 75. Or maybe a 90(not too fond of the height though.)

I have a non RR stand that I will be using. The problem is how to get to RR.

Do I buy a RR tank, drill the stand and go on my merry way? How noisy are the production RR tanks? Risk for floods?

Do I buy a non-RR tank and drill it? I thought I had made my mind to go this route, and use the "silent & failsafe" method with a Calfo style overflow. But after talking to the local DIY guru, he said RR tank would be cheaper.

So what is the collective wisdom.

TIA,
Robb

I simply took my nonRR 75 and drilled two holes for 1 inch bulkheads in the back panel and built a overflow on the inside of the tank with acrylic, total with drill bit about $20. no rick of leaks this way(no siphon)and quiet.

I'd purchase a reef-ready tank & megaflow access. kit. 10 minutes later your filling the tank with water. Mine is pretty quiet & risk of flooding is slim.
