upgrade from 46g to 70g
I am upgrading from a 46 bowfront to a 70 gallon and planning on using all new sand in the new tank. Will this cause a cycle in the new tank? I am also setting up a new fuge with the tank with sand. Will this have any effects as well?

Nope new sand will be fine. Use some of your old sand to seed the new.

You won't get a cycle per say with elevated ammonia and nitrites. But you can expect some new tank like symptoms. You'll probably get a diatom bloom and maybe even a slight algae bloom. I've upgraded a Nano to a 58 and 40 to a 75.
If your planning to add new live rock do it in stages too much at once will cause a mini cycle. you might want to add dry rock instead as it will turn live and won't cause a cycle. |
