chaeto question

i currently have a wet/dry filter and it has a sponge in this section before the water goes to the pump for the over flow...can i take out the sponge here and put in a bounch of chaeto in it place...could the chaeto act just as the sponge would? or would too much debri get by and clog my over flow pump...thanks

would work if you maintained a higher water level so the water would have room to flow across the top. one other solution would be to put a piece of live rock on the chaeto to keep it down. chaeto keeps together pretty well. as far as debri, use a filter sock where your water comes in.

You can do this. Just rinse your chaeto out once in a while.
