Tunze 6100 Questions
I have had 2 Tunze 6100's with a 7095 controller in my 75g for a while now. It seems like there is too much flow from them even at 20%. Is there a way to make the overall output less so that I can use the variable speeds on my controller? Am I not supposed to turn down the plastic screw on the blue box? Any help would be appreciated.

You can convert them to 6000s by using the smaller transformer. People with 6000s often do the opposite upgrade. I'm sure there are people who have done so and have the small transformers that would sell them for cheap. Look around/ask on the Tunze forum.

You could also put the 6200 housings(grilles) on them, it would widen and shorten the reach of the flow.

James has the right idea, but it'll cost you extra money. The flow will be insanely wide and gentle like the Vortech, BUT far more superior than the Vortech. You'll be able to turn up the flow and take full advantages of the controller.

I've run the 6100s with the 6200 grill and have to disagree. Yes, it widens the flow, but it doesn't decrease it. It probably increases a bit. It makes a difference the 1st 12" or so making it gentler, but the GPH is just as strong.
If the OP is all the way down to the min setting on the controller and still has more flow than he wants, he needs to cut it back pretty dramatically. The 6000 will go from 660 - 1850 GPH. The 6100 is 1050 - 3170 GPH. You could get someone to swap their 6000 xformers + some $ for your 6100 xformers.

You cant use the driver adjustment and the controller. The adjustment is for when the pump is run without a controller. I forget exactly why, but I've seen Roger post this on the Tunze forum.

Single or Multi wouldn't matter. This would be a good question to ask Roger in the Tunze forum. I swear I've seen this come up there before, and he said not to do it, but my mind is old and feeble and I could be imagining the whole thing.
