where to mount electronic ballast?
You think mounting it on the top of the canopy would be good? You would think It would reduce heat that way.
I just using one 175watt MH |

i think the heat at the lamp is more of a concern then the ballast itself...
i have considered mounting mine on top the canopy also for heat ..but most i have found have theirs mounting IN the stand without many problems.... i guess it all comes down to where do YOU want to mount it.. unless your planning on putting it in a insulated box that would allow Zero air movement i would say any place is good... |

I have mine mounted outside of the stand, on the back where it can barely be seen. Mine do get fairly warm, and don't want it to contribute to any more heat than I already have

i had mine in the stand for a long time but relocated them when i got a cal reactor. i have noticed a degree or two drop in water temp since moving them. if you like how it looks or can hide them then there really isnt a downside.

I had mine mounted to the back of the stand where I could get to it easy, but it wasnt noticable. Mine was a corallife 150 watt hqi ballast and it really didnt get to hot.
