Question Pump GPH Question

I just bought another 110 gallon display tank and plan to have a 45 gallon sump. How much GPH should my pump be able to put out for this tank? Is the normal rule around 10X what the gallon size of your aquarium is?

Thanks

I have usually read around 30x turnover in the display.

Now this doesn't mean 30x through the sump. On the high end I shoot for 5x turnover through the sump.

I try to match my return pump with the pump on my skimmer. This way more of the water is getting skimmed.

Hoe can you have 30X for the display and only 5X for the sump if the pump pulls the water from the pump??

somewhere around 500- 700gph through your sump. If you want more flow in the display, just add some powerheads or closed loop
