Lighting for 6'x3'x27", is 3 175hqis and 4x65pcs enough?

I'm getting the new marineland 300 (72x36x27).

I have a mix of sps lps softies and a couple bubbletip anemones.

so like i said, is 3 175hqi's and 4x65pcs enough? (6' fixture)

I don't believe 175 watt comes as a HQI but it's a moot point. I guess I'd be a little surprised if you can grow much under anything less than 250 watt halides in a tank that large.

27" Id go at least 250w halides, 400w halides would work ever better. If youre going mixed between soft, sps, and lps, you could probably just stay at 250w, and keep your sps higher up, and save on the electric bill.

250's are good to 24" deep for 27" depth 400watt will be needed to keep corals on the sandbed . Power compact's are old tech and not nearly as efficient as t-5's with parabolic reflectors. With t-5's there is a much larger selection of bulbs as well . If you are planing on keeping a reef buy the right (expensive) equipment now or waste your money on things you will eventually replace anyway!

currently i have 400watt se mh i may just add a third. i mentioned this fixture cause someone wanted to trade it for my old tank. the 175mh's must be SE not hqi's. i keep all sps at the top of my tank anyways. thought if this would work being a six foot fiture on a six foot tank it would be great.
Have also considered using the fixture along with the two 400mh's that i already have. an extra 400 is prolly the way to go though.
