cloudy water & new tank smell!!!!

The tank has been up for approx 4 years. 12 gallon nano cube with the jbj clip on metal halide. I killed a percula clown moving rocks and added a maroon gold stripe clown to replace him. Also added an ivory gorgonia. Today the tank is cloudy and has a new tank smell. Tank has been fine with a brain coral and a few polyps.

I've done a water change, tests will be done soon. Any suggestions or recommendations or ideas on what could have caused this and how to solve it?

When in doubt running fresh carbon is always a good idea.

could well be a bacterial bloom, if so , then water changes and as above carbon is a good idea, can help if its particulate matter in the water stream
