Best light for CORAL GROWTH

Currently have 2 96w PC on a 30 gal tank. 1 bulb is a SUNPAQ 420 & 460 actinic the other is a 10k & 420nm actinic. Dont seem to be getting any growth. Have hammer coral, candy cane, xenia, polyps, toadstool and other mushrooms ricordia etc. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I agree. If all your light is actinic, you really have very little spectrum to encourage growth.

I need 4-- 24watt bulbs for mine.

So you have 3 parts actinic 1 part 10k. lol pretty sure thats your problem. Best growth would probably be all 6500k lights. It would look very yellow though. If it were me I'd either run two 10k bulbs or one 10k and one 50\50

running 6500k or 10k bulbs don't cause algae problems. Excess nutrients, long photo periods, no grazing fish, ect cause algae problems.. Actinics are just for looks. They will help with color and just the overall look of the tank, But they don't do anything for growth. So if you want the max growth you can get. Loose the Actinics. Nothing wrong with 6500k Bulbs, Infact a ton of people running T5s have a couple mixed in with their other bulbs because they put out good par. You have 2 bulbs again IMO I'd run one 10k and one 50/50. This would give you good growth but still decent color. If you don't care about looks and just want best growth run 2 6500k bulbs. Could you have algae problems, Sure EVERYthing will grow faster under 6500k bulbs including algae.

So how long should I run them, say actinic's 12hrs and 10k's 10hrs or what length of time would be best?

Best is hard to say 7-10 hours is pretty much the standard. 12 hours is a pretty long photo period, But if your only running actinics for 2 of the 12 it doesn't really matter. If you do this for a dusk to dawn effect I don't really think it does anything. It would be more for you then the fish.
