New starfire type glass tanks@petco
So, about a week ago someone asked about new low iron glass tanks at Petco.
I mentioned new low iron glass tanks being made, and was asked for documentation/proof. Here ya go. http://current-usa.com/solanaxl.html

I just set mine up about a month ago.
Still a little bare, but on it's way. Love the rimless look, as well as the low iron glass.

that's pretty sweet... you can now just decide to go to the pet store at 8pm and come home with a rimless starphire tank 30 minutes later! now if only they would make a wider version, like 30", they'd REALLY get my attention.

I dont think it was iron glass after all, i think the person just thought that "optically clear" meant iron glass when it might have meant something else?

No, that thread got all derailed on the low iron glass being made elswhere issue.
It was so weird, all I did was chime in w/ info I had, and that thread got all goofy. Anyway, my point simply was to let peeps know we should be seeing other makers of low iron glass thus providing competitive pricing. I'm absolutely stoked on my 67g rimless!

Folks, he's referring to this thread; http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1606317 Where he 'chimed in' to say that starphire-type glass is produced in China where they pollute up a storm to make it. Then I asked for proof. Sorry I'm not interested in feeling like the environment had to sustain a large amount of pollution in order for me to have a particular item. To this day, no proof outside of "There are lower EPA regulations over there thus we can imply that starphire glass as well as every other product might be made over there more cheaply." If you check in at the end of this thread, I put up a pic of the Top Fin aquariums that they have with the "optically clear glass" whatever that is. |

I think he was trying to avoid that other thread, widmer, because it detracts from what he's saying in this one. He's just saying that Petco has some new low-iron glass tanks to let people know. Way to drag the unwanted politics right back in...

No doubt, and never did I say they pollute up a storm, or even display that I was ever upset.
I didn't like my credibility challenged, or that one person had the audacity to call me a liar, but so over it. Geez dude, I'm just giving some cool info to fellow reefers. PLEASE, LET'S KEEP THIS ON TRACK AND NOT TURN THIS INTO A DRAMA ISSUE!!!

Any detailed info/specs/prices should be obtained through them. This is just me trying to be helpful to other reefers and passing on what info I have to contribute to our hobby. Good people on this site have helped me, and I try to come on here to help others best as I can to repay that and keep the good karma thing going.
