Copepods*** are they important?

How important are copepods in your sump? what are the benefits they provide?

If you have fish in your tank that like to eat pods than the sump is a great place to allow them to reproduce.

I have detritius in my sump and they eat it

I heard that copepods eat poops and stuff is that true?

Current system: 170G+50g Sump/Bio-Pellet Reactor. 2x400w Radium+2x110w VHO. 2 x HYDRO Magnum 8 + 1xMP60w (removed 2 x Koralia 4). SWC 300A Cone (had SWC 200 w/ Red Demon); it's AWESOME! BRS DOSER(Cal, Alk, and Mag).

Current Tank Info: 170g+50g sump

pods eat poop..... but pods poop too. THey can bind up nutrients... but they are not removing them. If there is a fish eating them they are a good food source.

aren't their poop different? like how we breath out co2 and tree convert it into oxygen?

I have never studied a copepod's poop, so could not coment on it, but here is a video of a copepod pooping Maybe these people who videoed it can comment....

Anyway Copepods are benefical to any reef system, they are food for many things

I don't know if you'd notice any difference with or without copepods in your tank, but I doubt you'd be able to keep them out of tank with live rock in it.
