Question ATI BM160 Mesh wheel

Has anyone put an extra layer of mesh in the sicce pump for the BM160? The original single layer of mesh looks like it needs replacement and i was playing around with the idea of adding a second layer.

Will this cause the pump to work harder leading to pump failure or will i be ok? If you have done some kind of mod to you yours please chime in. Thanks!

Many use 3 layers of mesh for the sicce 2500 pump on the Octo/MSX skimmers. It should start with two layers no problem. It's all about how far off the disk you trim it. Mine would start with three layers if I kept the mesh cut to around 1/4" beyond the disk.

Would trimming the mesh 1/4" beyond the disk be optimal for 2 layers? Should i go for 3 layers?
