I've had my softies under PC's in a 20" depth tank and they are doing really well. Even my LPS don't mind the PC's.
But if you want to step up to MH They'll be fine with that too. You just have to slowly introduce the MH with shorter time or putting a couple layers of window screening between your tank and the lights and over the course of a few weeks remove them one by one.

If you're going to keep softies, keep your PC's and save your money. JMO.

Softies and LPS require little to moderate light and same with flow. If you’re only going to keep those in your tank then no reason to change lighting. You get better color with MH and you can jump up to SPS with them. But if you’re happy with what you have then again... no need to change.
