Flow question

Im thinking about replacing my maxijet/sureflo mod with two Koralia powerheads. The maxijet mod is and alway has been noisy and Im trying to improve flow a little. Is this even necessary? I do get a slight amount of cyano on the sand bed that i vacume up in some areas that dont get much flow. Its not been too bad though.

I have a 56 gallon (tall) display. I keep an assortment of soft corals now and soon some SPS hopefully.

Any thoughts would be helpful. I dont really have the money to spend on Tunze power heads right now.

Well calculate your flow; the GPH should roughly be 30X the tank size. So you want around 1680GPH

My K-4's are dead silent & provide pretty good flow for the dough. Just a guess but two K-3's would probably work well.

Could even start with one new powerhead to see if you like it.

Yep for the price you can't beat the koralia's. They are quiet and use magnets to hold them to the tank.. No more losing suction and having your PH whipping around the tank.
