If you are going on a cruise, they should have snorkeling options for you. They usually have these add on packages that you can buy. Many are land tours, but they usually offer snorkeling as well. Depending on where the boat docks and such, its very difficult to get to a good spot on your own. Plus you have to figure out equipment, boat schedules, travel, and such. If you take the tour, its all included and you never have to worry about missing your boat. And there are so many amazing places in the Caribbean, I doubt you will be disappointed with where the tours take you snorkeling.

A short walk east of the docks is a popular spot known as Eden Rock. Easy access and good snorkeling, especially if you swim out a bit. Anything else is going to require a car. One of the best Stingray City snorkel trips is run by Capt. Marvin Ebanks, they might do dockside pickup...google Captain Marvin's for his website to find out. The biggest trick is trying to get around during the short window of time the ship is in port. Another good possibility if there is a bus trip to the Turtle Farm, hop the bus with your gear. Next door to the Turtle Farm is a restaurant with dive shop underneath, and free water access behind. One of the best spots for snorkeling.

thank you jedininja and Bill,

They ended up rerouting our cruise from Cozumel to Roatan. i was excited...then they rerouted us from Roatan to Belize. I hate Belize and did not even get off the boat. but while i was in Grand Cayman i went on a shore snorkel. no tour. just found a place and jumped in with my snorkel gear. I saw LOTS of stuff. i was a bit disappointed with the corals in the are i was in (mostly Brain corals), but overall it was a great time!

also would not recommend Ocho Rios to anyboby. that place is a nightmare for tourist!
