Vortech MP40 question
I was wondering if you any of you guys that run this thing use it without the foam guard? Just a question I have heard a fish will get sucked up without it is this true?

i run my mp20 without it... i don't think a fish will get sucked to it unless its' really sick...

i dont use mine foam guard on my mp40. i think its more for nems then fish. the only thing to watch out for is if u turn off the pump make sure none of ur fish decided to sit inside the pump.

Thats what I figured but I always been to scared to chance it haha when I take it off this thing throw a huge wave, so I was going to try it without the guard.

I don't use one but I've had a peppermint shrimp and 1 chromie get killed by it. I still don't use it.

I don't use the foam guard, it reduces flow too much for my taste. IME, only very small or very sick fish get sucked into the Vortech. (I have 2 MP40W's)
