Calcium reactor!!!!!!!
Ok I have been reading about Kalkwasser's two part solution. I was wondering if it a neccesity to have a calcium reactor with a reef tank. And if you need one to run Kalkwasser?? Please help im a little confused about this whole calcium/ alkalinity business.

well, a calcium reactor doesn't run kalkwasser. That would be a Kalk reactor.
First, you don't need a calcium reactor. You can do just fine with dosing two part, adding kalk to your auto top off, or both. On the other hand, if you have a VERY high demand and/or don't want to deal with dosing, a calcium reactor can be the way to go. Do you have a high Calcium demand right now?

No!!!!!!!
Calcium reactors are mostly helpful on larger tanks, ie: 150g+. I'm pretty sure Kalkwasser can be added to the water directly like other buffers, but haven't used it myself. I know some add it to the automatic top-off. |

Not really. I have only a few sps corals right now. A total of four. Calcium doesnt seem to exceed 300. And I dose calcium everyweek with a 10 gal water change. The tank has been up and running for a few months right now. I am planning to make this a full reef, but im learning quick that it is EXPENSIVE, but i love it. I just want to make sure im doing everything slow and right. A buddy of mine has a full 195 reef and its beautiful. He was running this two part solution and cal reactor. I guess I just need to be patient.
