Clam ID and care

Hi gang,

I was snooping around looking our new live rock over in the tank when I noticed one of the rocks moved! When I looked closer the "rock" was actually some sort of clam looking thing. I tried to get a picture but the location of the rock made it pretty difficult. It looks like (and is the size of) an eyeglasses case. It opens up about 1/2" during the lighting period mostly. The opening slit is not on top but towards the bottom almost along the rock face it is attached to. It has a bunch of macroalgae, coraline algae etc on the upper shell. Does anyone know what this clam is and if we should be feeding it anything once the cycling period is over?

thanks

basically just a filter feeder..if water quality is good no additional foods needed will get it from the water.

Does it look like this? This came on some live rock that I got. It's kind of eerie how close your description was to mine. The opening runs along the bottom of the rock, it's surrounded by macroalgae, and it let's coraline algae and the cladocora you see in the pic grow on it.

I believe mine is an oyster, but I'm no expert.

clam?
