BB tank - water column debris

Is there a better option than a filter sock to catch debris - if not which one should I get?

Since I am running a bb tank with high flow I have a lot of debris and nothing to catch it. Most are fairly small particles. I can only siphon so much out because the high flow keeps things suspended extremely well.

Much of it does end up in the sump (where I can easily siphon it out) but my water is still not very clear. At first I thought it was microbubbles but it is definitely solid particles.

I have the same problem. Added a Magnum HOB filter to catch a little more of the floating detritus but I'm not sure it's getting the job done and it's introducing a lot of micro-bubbles.

A 100 micron sock is considered to be a water polisher. The 200 micron size is more of a normal filter type. I rotate.
You can bu 4 on ebay for the price of 2 at a LFS.

Do you have baffles in your sump? I use poly pillow stuffing and pack it down between the baffles to catch particles. Then I just throw it away after a day. It really does a nice job of catching the bigger particles. A huge bag runs me aroun $3-4.

I do have baffles. That is a good idea with the poly fill! I may give that a try.

I have not been able to find filter socks at the LFS.

Does anyone have a link to a really long filter sock?

There has to be a better way then a filter sock, are you telling me that these super clear tanks all have filter socks? Can anybody help, I had the filter socks aswell, but these things are a pain in the ***. I took them out now I have tiny particles floating everywhere, sucks, but there has to be something else.
