Sea Hares with other inverts

I was wondering if cleaner shrimp or serpent stars can harm a sea hare. I got a sea hare 2 days ago and every night my cleaner shrimp and my serpent star like pick at it. I'm not sure if they are harming it or not.

Any input is appreciated.

I wouldn't think a cleaner shrimp would harm your sea hare. It might be picking off small pods that are hard to see or grooming it..not sure. As for the serpent star it was probably just checking it out...feeling it. The sea hare is a new addition and they both are probably just curious.

Nah, they were picking at this thing all night. When my lights came on yesturday the sea hare didn't move all night and didn't move at all during the day......I just threw it out. Especially since these things are poisonous I just didn't wanna take any chances with it releasing toxins. I'm really surprised it already hadn't.

I think you may have killed your seahare out of fear. They sleep for hours at a time on the glass. I have cleaner shrimp and Serpent star fish and they never mess with either of my sea hairs. Im a big fan of sea hairs they do good work in your tank

Yes, cleaner shrimp have been known to pick at sea hares and harm them.

However, sea hares do not release toxins (besides ammonia) whether they're dying or not.

Current Tank Info: tore them down to move and haven't had the time or money to set them back up
