aptasia in fuge

I am working hard to kill off aptasia in my display, but there are a bunch in the fuge.

If i dont kill them in the fuge, will the keep popping up in the display? How do they reproduce?

Aiptasia reproduce by releasing larvae into the water column which then find a suitable location to attach to and then morph into a polyp.
It is best to remove them from the sump. A good way to remove them, especially from a sump is to throw some peppermint shrimp in there with them. The peppermint shrimp will be forced to eat the aiptasia since there is will be little other food for them to eat.

Some people have actually kept the aiptasia in their sump as a sort of nutrient sink or filter as the aiptasia feed by filtering particles out of the water. This is tricky though, since they may get into your display tank if you are not careful. Perhaps a few peppermint shrimp in the display would keep the aiptasia population down. I wouldn't recommend this method unless you are aware of the consequences of an aiptasia population explosion if it were to happen.

Personally, I would remove them from the sump.

Oh man... these are impossible to stay on top of... the faster you can eraticate them, the better! If they got from your DT to your fuge, then the same will happen the other way. Even if there is the tiniest trace of them left in there, they seem to be able to multiply with ease! I have tried everything... the only real results I have had is with a product called 'Joe's Juice'... after the second peppermint shrimp turned him nose up on them, I gave up on the preditory method... (and the fact that my Sally-Lightfoot killed them)...

My 2c, gettem gone!

I have a customer that was overfeeding and her Aiptasia was going crazy. I found these little "jellyfish" in her sump, scores of them. These guys were the larvae of the Aiptasia. In all my years of reef keeping and aquarium maintenance I had never seen this....interesting yet discouraging at the same time.
