Aqua Medic ballast problem
I've got a 48" aqua medic hood with 2 250watt de halides and 2 T5's. One of the halides quit working and when I checked the bulb I noticed the metal clamp in the hood had broken. I assumed this was the problem since the ballast made a humming noise when you turned it on. Today I replaced the bulb socket but it still does not work. I plugged it into the other ballast and the light fired so it is the ballast. As I stated it makes a humming noise when I turn it on, it just doesn't fire the bulb. Is there a part such as a fuse that might need replacing, or does this require a new ballast?
This is a dual magnetic setup in a single housing. |

I had a 72" AquaMedic hood and had to replace lots of the parts. I'm not sure what parts you need and hopefully someone else will know more.
I have 2 new transformers and 2 new ignitors left for sale if you end up needing replacements: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...ght=aqua+medic Good Luck! Joyce |

Thanks Joyce. I looked at your parts and they don't look anything like what is in my ballast. I have the Ocean Light hood. The Ocean light replaced my Spacelight hood because I wanted the T5's in the Ocean Light. Those parts look like what was in my Spacelight hood. I had one of the ballasts die in my Spacelight also but I ended up buying 2 Icecap ballasts and rewiring it.

Thanks for the info on them not fitting the Ocean Light. Someone else had told me that they might fit, so I'll change my ad.
I hope you get it figured out. Joyce |
