Add another K3?

I have a 40g breeder with a K3 in one corner and generic 480gph power head blowing across the front and was wondering if adding another K3 would be too much flow for a 40g breeder. I will probably be keeping mostly non SPS coral. Would putting in a K2 or K1 be a better option instead of an additional K3?

how is the flow on them? i think the flow is dispersed so you might now have any problems with it. if you dont have problems with the one youve got in and feel there are dead areas not receiving flow, then i see why not. if it ends up being too much you might have to position it in a way where it's not harming the corals or kicking up sand

a Vortech MP20 would be perfect and youd be able to dial the flow to your own needs. its pricey but worth the price tag

Well.... college graduation is about 3 weeks away... Would an MP40w dialed WAY down be complete overkill incase I want to upgrade to a bigger tank in the future?

I don't think so. The flow is very wide; the undertow it generates can be wicked though. It can pull up sand and blow it across and the minimum flow would be 1,000 gph. You could always buy the MP20 and buy the upgrade kit to make it into an MP40W and you'll be set for a bigger tank

Ill look into that as mp20 + upgrade is only $30 more than a stand alone mp40w. Although I really should be putting money into a RO/DI kit, but I guess we will have to see how nicely people treat me with graduation money

I would go with an mp40. You KNOW you'll upgrade at some point , and they are sweet.
