Noisy Deltec MCE600?

I am just wondering if the amount of buzzing and vibration on the sump is normal for my Deltec. I just set it up, and have been using remoras powered by MJ1200s or similar pumps for the past few years and they were MUCH quieter. The rest of my equipment is now dead silent since I re-did my tank, so maybe that new silence is making me more aware. Any input would be great!

There used to be a silencer kit that deltec sold, but louder than a remora? I doubt it, i'd imagine that your other equipment got much quieter.

Other than the bit of a squeal that the air valve producded when I have it set at 2 o'clock I find it relatively quiet. Is the buzzing coming from the air valve?

You will loose a bit of effectiveness but you can open the valve up a bit to reduce the squeal.

I have the valve open full tilt. The buzzing/vibration is coming from the pump itself, not the airflow.

Call marvin and see if he has the rubber silencer kit for the vibration.

just for the record i thought the air noise was fine on it -- it was the grindy buzz from the pump that bothered me. my sense is that it depends a lot on the location of the system. mine was in a room with hardwood floors and other aspects that may have amplified that particular forced vibration a bit.
