Our 75g build thread

My wife and I started a 75 gallon build about 1 1/2 months ago. We have alot of work to do, but we're having fun.

My wife had a 45 gallon several years ago and wanted bigger. We happened to find this 75 gallon tank that had been in an office in Houston for free. We had it drilled, the box put on and all the plumbing done. Bought the stand off craigslist (which was exactly what we wanted) made a DIY sump, bought everything else from LFS.

2 Koralia 2's
Rio 2500 return pump
Marineland 100 skimmer
Nova Extreme 2x54 T5 lights
50lbs live rock
30lbs base rock
2 1/2 inch sandbed

Livestock:
2 green chromis
1 banded sleeper goby
5 red leg hermit crabs
2 turbo snails

Parameters:
SG-1.026
Ammonia-0
Nitrate->10
Nitrite-0
Calcium-580
PH-8.2

Here are the pics

Nice tank Nipper. Are you planning on it being a reef tank?

Thanks Guys.

Yes.. I want a full reef. We'll have to update the lights, but the 2x54 t5's should get us started on the simpler things.

Speaking off.. at what point can I start adding a few corals? What would be suggested to begin with considering the lighting and parameters I have?

Only your tank can tell you when the time is right, just look at your parameters, make sure they are all where they should be and don't rush it. With the lighting you have, start with zoo's, shrooms and star polyps.

Thanks.

I guess what I'm really questioning is what should I get my param's at before I put a coral in? Calcium? Alkalinity? etc..

Your calcium and alk should be fine since you don't have anything in the system depleting either, but the following Water Conditions: 72-78° F, dKH 8-12, sg 1.023-1.025, pH 8.1-8.2 can be used as a general guideline.
