Need Help Please...
not really new to the hobby but my tank is acting really strange. I have a corner reef tank with flower pot, elegance, long tentacle plate, candy cane, bubble anemone with anemone crab, several polyps and mushrooms. Have some snails, coral banded shrimp, pistol shrimp and a purple fire fish. Strange thing is this...I can't add any new fish. Keep trying to add new fish and they keep dieing. Went through 9 clowns, 2 yellow tangs, 2 blue hippo tangs, and several others. Why do the new fish die within a day but the fire fish is fine? My water tests out fine. I don't understand. Got another blue tang and yellow tang tonight. Floated the bag for 30 mins. Poured a cup of my tank water in the bag, waited 15 mins and poured in another cup and the yellow tang died in the bag. Blue tang might make it but it's not looking good. Any suggestions?

Have you tried quarantining new fish for about 4 weeks and acclimatizing/observing them that way I agree with sister l---some water parameters would help here

Also, if you are getting the livestock from the same place, you may want to find another source. First get a QT tank setup and running. Try a single fish for 4 weeks in the QT tank after the tank has cycled. |

Well, if you poured some water in the bag and it died means something's wrong, VERY wrong.
If you have some fish and coral there they might be surviving rather than living, check all parameters. On the other hand is the place where you buy the fish a well cared aquarium or is the kind that makes a living out of selling fish to whoever buys them no matter what... |

Something is very "fishy". Multiple tangs in a nano? I'm guessing troll. If I'm wrong about that, then the question in my mind is... why are the fish dying but not the inverts? Surely it isn't for claustrophobia. |

Im suprised no one has asked this guy where he gets his top off/mix water from. I think its something in the top off water that built up slowly allowing the existing animals to acclimate but is too toxic to new comers.

Not a bad insight there Hornet, but I'm pretty sure this thread is the work of a troll.

Well he registered 8 months ago and only has one post.
We may have to wait another 8 months till he answers our questions.

If he has had an account for 8 months, then why go thru 14 fish before asking a single question? It boggles the mind. |

Viperloe, if you are not a troll, then pay no attention to my own foolishness. All that matters is your eventual success in this hobby. RC is exactly where you need to be. Hope this help. |
