Browning Acros due to Kalkwasser

I've read a couple of posts about this, have not found a good thread on the issue....

Acroporas brown after long use of Kalkwasser....
Is this true?

I have never found this to be the case.
IME acros brown from high phosohate levels.

I know a guy around here had an incident with an extreme kalk overdose and lost half of his tank, but I have yet to see the prolonged use of kalk cause browning out. Have to go with SeanT on this one, most of my acros have browned out because of high phosphate and nitrates.

I have never heard of that either. I have been using it for almost 3 yrs with no problems. I'm sure there are people who have been using it much longer than that though.

Totally bunk imo. I keep LPS now, but when I had acros I ALWAYS used kalk + 2 part for whatever the kalk couldn't handle and had gorgeous colors.

Kelvin,i used kalk(missippi lime) for about 10 years supplementing with 2 part when needed and had awesome colors and great growth. The only issue i had using lime water was the pumps getting caked pretty often .I would have to agree with the above posts.browned out acros come from high nutrients and instability
