Live Rock

Ok so, we're new to the hobby and we filled our 60g tank with live rock. What are the chances that there is stuff on this rock that will start growing?

We bought it cured, if that's helpful to know. Basically I just want to know if there is stuff that I should be looking for.

Thanks

I think that you have a good chance of having something grow on the lr however it's never something that you want. I just recently got a cured live rock and about 2 weeks later there were 2 xenia's on it now (about a month later there are about 7-10 heads on it) gotta get that out of there!!!

xenias are great to have! ....when under control. They are the WEED OF THE REEF TANK! ALONG WIOTH GREEN STAR POLYPS but they are both great to have and beautiful when fully opened.

As quickly as this one (a hitchhiker) has grown I don't want it in my tank. although I do like the pulsing xenia but it's not for me.

It is a very good chance most of what is on the rock will survive. I like to see what develops on the LR myself and a lot of it is good. Just look out for bad things, like aiptasia and other weed like anemones.

in my experience it has generally been-

the good:
feather dusters
pods

the bad-
aiptasia
hydroids (took a long time to show up though, as in years)

I never expect anything too exciting to come in on LR
