Who makes the best submersible return pump

I have a 90g, plus a 29g for a sump, I'd guess somewhere in the 90g range of actual water volume..So looking for 500-600 GPH at 5' head pressure. Right?

Right now I'm just using come cruddy RIO pump, would love to have something quieter...and with a bit more flow.

Suggestions?

Eheim. Dead Silent and very very dependable
And for the range, go with the 1260. I have two hooked up to my 180 and I love them.

Hmm.. I think I need to refigure the GPH, I meant about 500 GPH after head loss...so about 750 actual GPH at zero head.

I will look at the Eheims, though the first thing I noticed was they are $! but quiet is worth some $ in my book.

ehiem, hands down - i have a 1260 that i got used from the lfs i worked at - it was the circulation in their feeder goldfish tank. cleaned it up and it's been running ever since with minimal maintenance. oh yeah - that was over 20 years ago!

Still the eheim 1260. Its a little over 600GPH without headloss calculated in. This pump has great flow with minimal headloss. I am pretty sure its on the RC calculator for head loss on the main page. This pump would be perfect for your setup.
Go with the Mag 7 if you want constant headaches from the noise, and constant cleaning it needs. Oh and sometimes it doesnt like to start.
