Attaching coral frags to rock work
whats everyones opinion on this? do you cut the frags off the plugs and stick them to rocks or just use some aquamend stuff and stick them to rocks plug and all?
Ive got a few new sps frags it install and up until now ive always just tried to find a crevise to stick the frag plug in but lately ive run out of good holes and snails and such keep knocking stuff over. Ive thought about using the underwater epoxy but i was wondering how easy they will come off if i have to move them. Any thoughts? |

I remove them from the plugs and use the aquamend. It isn't hard to remove them later.

i thought about maybe just snipping the long part of the plugs off and attaching with aquamend that way ive heard aquamend gets hot as it cures. will that affect the coral if its touching it?

I like to attach my frags to a small piece of rock with superglue then I will glue that rock to a frag plug. When I am ready to mount the coral in my tank I remove the rock from the plug and use aquamend to attach it to the my live rock, then I reuse that plug for another frag later.

I can't stand the long plastic ORA plugs. I cut off the stems with a dremel and then superglue the rest of the plug to the rockwork. I ususally leave frags on other kinds of plugs as long as they aren't too big. I'm not a big fan of epoxy because it makes my skimmer go nuts.
