aqualifter pump as ATO siphone / check valve

what do people do to stop the siphon from the ATO once the aqualifter is turned off? Where can i get an airline tubing check valve or is there a better/easier way?

You control the siphon by how it is setup. Fasten the end of the airline at the top of the sump so it can not siphon from your container. Or if the water level in the container is higher than the top of the sump, you can use a small piece of pipe standing up in the sump to put the airline tubing into, or just a T in the airline tubing at the highest spot, with the top of the T going up to the top of the tank and then fastened into place.

yes the water level in my ATO container is higher then my sump. My ATO container is a 20g brute trash can, so it is tall. I can try the pipe idea. The T is so the air breaks the siphon?

Yes it is. Anything for an air break will stop the syphon as long as it is higher than the water level in the brute.

If you use the pipe and it is higher than the topoff reservoir, you dont need a T.

what i ended up doing is using velcrow to place the water tube coming into the sump MUCH higher then the ATO container. Seems to be working and stopping the siphon after the pump shuts off.

That will work as well, just make sure that as part of your regular maintance, you make sure the line is still in the velcro.

Yes, the pipe is purely to raise the ATO output higher that the top of the reservoir so it will not siphon.

Yup. The pipe gives you an air break where the airline tubing goes in to stop the siphon.
