Reefkeeper lite questions with setup
Today i am trying to setup my reef keeper lite and i was wondering if anyone knew what setting to set the hysteresis to. I was thinking its the temp degree allowance and is set point the negative variance i am a little confused. Also i was wondering if anyone would recommend wavemaker mode on 3 k4 will it damage them. The directions i feel are a little vague. Since the module is only 4 plugs how can you set a wave without off setting all pumps do i need another module. Sorry if some of these questions are dumb this is all new for me.

I can't comment on all your questions but I can add a little bit. I have a reefkeeper elite currently (and 2 lites on order but they won't be here till monday sadly).
The way the wavemaker works on the these is that you can choose two outlets to set as wavemaker A/B and the controller will then automatically cycle power between the two outlets. You plug one Powerhead (or several via using a multi to one outlet device like a 3 plug thing - have several of these in use on my elite to conserve outlets - both heaters are plugged into one PC4 outlet for example) into one PC 4 slot, and one into the other. Then you set one to be wavemaker A and one to be wavemaker B, and you can edit the wavemaker A/B settings to say how long each one should run for between cycles. Whether or not you should put the Korealias on a timer or not - I have no idea. The hysteris is indeed the variance allowed. I have my elite set to 79.5 as the set point. If you put a .5 hystersis on that it would allow the temp to range between 79.0 and 80.0. If you put a 1.0 on it it would be 78.5 to 80.5. Hope this helps a bit. Also I've found their forum at the DA site to be relatively helpful back when I was setting up the elite.

Thats some excellent info and clears up quite a few questions. Just still wondering about the korealias. Do you have your actinics set on a different dc4 outlet or the same i like to run the actinics longer. Just trying to count 2 outlets for wavemaker, one for heaters, one for metal halides thats four already no room for my actincs i guess i could use a regular timer.

For me I do have my lights in two separate slots so that they can come on at a different time. But you are right, you are going to run out of slots in a hurry. I would expect with as much as you want to run on it you are going to want to add another PC4 in the future. Till then, I'd use a regular timer for what can't fit in the PC4 that you have.

Ok got the the controller set up does any one know if the rkl will shut off my lights if the temp rises to hot. Also does anyone know when SL2 will be available imo its much better for it checks ph and salinity. Unless you have a orp controller and thats more important to you. Still need more power slots. I only have one power wire on top of my canipy this makes things more difficult.

i dont think that koralias would be a good idea due to sometimes upon restart the impeller will pop out and wont do anything so you will be waveless if you arent around to rectify the situation if it should arise

I would also avoid the Koralias on the wavemaker setups.
As for shutting off the lights, you have to set an alarm. You pick a high point (I have mine set at 82), select the input you want to use for giving the info (iTemp in this case) and the function to turn the device off. Then you go to that channel under "outputs" and use the alarm you set up.

I am going to set up mine this weekend. There isnt much in the way of a manual so I sure hope the head unit is pretty intuitive to program!
