Bryopsis in new tank?
I'm pretty sure that my tank has bryopsis. The tank is a little more than 2 weeks old and has finished the initial cycle. I use RO/DI water, I'm running chemi-pure elite, I have a fuge with chaeto, and I have a skimmer running. I don't have any fish, so I'm not feeding at all or introducing any phosphates.
Here's pics: Tank numbers... Lights: 12 hours actinic, 8 hours whites SG: 1.025 Temp: 80 pH: 8.4 DKH: 4 Nitrites: 0 Nitrates: 0 Ammonia: 0 Phosphates: 0 (I tested my RO/DI water and the tank) Calcium: 450 Magnesium:1150 So what's the diagnosis? |

all the rock or just that one?
If it is just that one rock, I would take it out. Scrub it and BOIL it for 30 min. If it is all the rock then Take all of it out and scrub it but dont boil it.

I'm not seeing the photos in either Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. Odd.

Looks like regular green hair algae. To be expected in a new tank. Just let it go through it's phase. Clean up crew and regular water changes and it should pass.

I don't think it's bryopsis, I agree it looks like regular hair algae. Tim

You can also see it all over the back wall in the background of the second pic. Is there anything else that this could be? It doesn't look exactly like the bryopsis pictures I've seen. But it definitely has the feathery look. |

That link said bryopsis is course.
This stuff seems very soft and flows with the current. I guess I'll see if my new fuzzy chitons eat it to determine what it is. |
