10gal - Adding Pair of Clowns - Ammonia Spike?

When I add my pair of clowns to my 10g nano reef, I have been told it will cause a significant enough ammonia spike to kill the fish. For those who have done this did you notice this as well? Should I dose AmQuil when I add the pair?

What else do you have in the tank?

How long has it been set up?

What type of clowns?

But, assuming that there are no other fish in the tank, and that it has just finished its cycle, there is a chance (( mainly because of the size of the tank )) that you will get a spike. You are going to have to test the water daily -- to see if you are getting an ammonia spike, and if you are, do a water change. Could do as much as 5 gallons.

I'm gonna wait a week after it has cycled and I have added the hermit crabs and snails. 2 Occelaris Clowns. I have 10.75 lb of live rock in the tank and a hang on back filter running.

I also have a 10 gallon tank that I ended setting up for a pair of snowflakes ( just for a few months ) I didn't cycle the tank cause I used water from my main tank and added a cured piece of live rock.
