Tanks- Perfecto vs AGA

Hey Everyone,

Im looking to order a 50 gallon breeder, and while i was calling around one store said they can order me an AGA for 150$ and another store said they can get me a Perfecto (which I think is Marinland now) for 71$. The perfecto they said was a reptile tank, but is there a difference between a reptile and fish? That is a big difference in price, so I was wondering if I should just pay the extra money for an AGA? or if the cheaper one will be fine?

Thanks
Jason

most reptile tanks are built with thinner glass than fish tanks. Reptile tanks ( for the most part) can't be filled with water.

Hey Jason,

My AGA cost me $150 aswell. I would not trust the reptile tank either, I like the water staying IN the tank!

Order it already BTW!

Brad

Probably not much help but, I bought my Perfecto 120g in 2005 for $280, and no leaks..... so far.

my 40 breeder was $79 at petco on sale. They are normally $99. Have you thought about a 40 breeder instead? I think they look better.

I dont get why people say a 40 gallon looks better... whats 2 inches? I think the 50s look fine, and ontop of that the extra 10 gallons only help to add more water volume

Here is a 50 in process of a buddy of mine. sorry brad but it looks perfectly fine.

I just prefer shallow tanks to tall tanks. Not only do I think they look better but its easier to light it as well. There is just something sexy about a shallow tank. IMO of course. Do what ever makes you happy.

thats a pretty old picture you have there! Still looks sexy!

I think the 2'' is HUGE when you factor in live rock and then SPS growing. That is the reason I didn't get a 40g breeder, only 16'' tall.....

It also depends on the aqua scaping. I like a minimal amount of rock in my tanks. Click on the red house for my build thread. And a 40 breeder is actually 45 gallons.

I also have 175watts of MH and 2x39watts of T5
