Interesting product ... but first thought when I saw it were..does it cost more than an electric tooth brush and would an electric tooth brush work....

I think it would scratch acrylic. Might be good for cleaning hair algae off live rock in the tank. I don't trust it's 'water tight' rating though... You would have to totally submerge it, then man-handle it down there to get at stuff. Also, battery powered, it would not have enough torque to really bear down on anything.

I have one. It's actually designed to be used for auto detailing, according to the packaging. As far as I can tell, it's quite nicely water resistant.
It works great for scrubbing live rock. I had a major hair algae infestation, and it made short work of the "fur"on my rocks. I zip-tied my siphon hose to it to remove the pest, and it made the job much easier than a toothbrush or other mechanical means. I do believe it could scratch the snot out of an acrylic tank. The brush head really spins fast, if you picked up even a grain of sand your goose would be cooked in a second. As far as durability is concerned, I've only had the thing a couple of months, so the jury is still out on that one. HTH... |
