Vortech question...

Which vortech would you use on a 75 gallon sps tank?

MP40w hands down. Possibly 2 if it is a full blown SPS tank and depending on size of corals

Do you think with an Eheim 1262 return pump and a vortech 40 on the other side I would be all set for flow in a tank that has about 80-90% sps and then lps on the sand bed?

I have two MP40Ws on my 75, no SPS. Just added the second recently after running about a year on a single MP40W. With the single pump I ran it in long pulse mode at 100% and it worked fine, but quite audible ramping up from idle to 100%. I don't have a sump so the only other flow is a minimal amount from an empty canister filter shooting across the short side of the tank. I found with a single pump, the far side of the tank was lacking in flow. Now that I have the second, I can run them in anti synch mode on long pulse at around 75%. This cuts down on the motor noise and provides more even, random flow throughout the tank. In short, with an SPS dominated tank, you'll do better with two MP40Ws. I realize that's a fair chunk of cash and it's one reason I waited a year to get the second, but if you're looking for flow second to none, that's pretty much the bottom line, VorTech wise. There are other pumps out there of course.
