Linckia Sea Star
Will a Linckia sea star be ok in my 190litre tank? I have standard T5 lighting, all levels are fine and already have two cinnamon clown fish and cleaning crew in place.
All levels have been fine so far - and i have about 18kg of live rock, with plenty of live forms. I dont have too much green algae though, turbo snails sorted that out! Is there anything i can do to ensure the star fish settles in well? |

Make sure the tank is mature enough to handle one. They are very hard to keep even for the seasoned hobbyist. They need near perfect water conditions. Do you have any coral in your tank?

They tend to slowly starve in any but a large very mature tank.

I would not recommend getting the Linkia star. It will die. Over all the posts that I have read about them very few people have ever said that they have had success keeping a linkia. I tried and couldnt do it. It sucks for me to know that I basically killed something because I didnt do the proper research before buying. It was one of those impulse buys. In this hobby you will have a lot more success if you listen to the advice given by those who have been there and tried that. Not that I have lots of experience.

+1 they are hard to keep, they feed off a certain type of algae i believe and once that is gone, if your tank does not keep producing it, then it's only a matter of time.
