Moving an overflowbox to a new tank
My 75 is leaking on the bottom seam. I'm hoping to move over to a new 90 with as little impact to my livestock as possible. I'm going to have to remove my overflow box from my 75 and install it in the new 90, but I'm not sure how long this process will take.
-Is there anything special that I should use to clean off the overflow before I silicone it into the new tank? -How long does the silicone need to cure in the 90 before I can start using it? -Finally, and this is probably a dumb question, but would it be possible to run my 75 with the "beananimal" overflow plumbing (pictured below) to my sump without the overflow for a day or two? I was thinking about reducing the volume in the display to the level of the overflow plumbing and banding some mesh over the inlets. |

If you are swapping tanks, set up the new tank with a new overflow. It will make the transition a lot easier.

In the interest of time and money, I definitely want to reuse the existing overflow.
