BK selfcleaning head

What is this and why does it cost $1000. Looking into getting a BK skimmer and saw this on vendors site. Why a $900 skimmer needs a 1K assessory is beyond me.

it prevents build up of skimmate. i have heard it makes the skimmer 30-40% more efficient. i don't really know if it's true. i assume it helps a lot. do i think it's worth $1000? idk about that either lol. maybe in a year or so i'll get one. or just upgrade to a bigger BK.

what model BK are you going to get? I always like to see another local with a high end skimmer.

I think it is one of those things that you get if price does not matter. You could save a few hundred by going with the AquaDriver Universal version.

Hi fishkid6692,

yes it is true. The skimmer works constantly for a high performance level because no Layer of dirt destroy the foam in the neck. As a rule, you need to service your skimmer only every 3-6 weeks

regards
Carsten

Service the skimmer as in cleaning the whole skimmer or just the collection cup?

I have the BK 300 Deluxe Internal but I think having the SCH is a good choice to people that can afford it, for what I read u get a better performance by keeping the head of the collection cup clean, but I can't afford it my wife would kill me if I were to buy it.

I was under the impression that with the SCH your frequency for cleaning the cup is reduced. If not I see no benefit for myself in getting one.

Hi Matt,

exact These are approximately the standard maintenance intervals if no SCH is used !

But please note. I think most have already made this experience.

If you clean your skimmer by hand with freshwater it needs some time till it works again well. The rotation nozzle of the SkimClean use skimmer-seawater and the Skimmer works with uninterruptedly 100% performance. The "surface tension" at the contact pipe Surface (neck) remains constant!

regards
Carsten
