power heads
I have a 60 gal tank.
How many power heads should I have and at what gph? Thanks in advance |

Depends on what your going to keep. At least 1200 gph for fish only or soft coral. You can pretty much add as much gph as you want, in the ocean I think it works out to be somewhere around 15000 gph For SPS your going to want at least 2000 gph.

two koralia 2s would be good imo; varies with tank dimensions, and what you want to keep

For now I have FOWLR. but eventually will add some corals.

A Korlia 2 only puts out 600 gph, so 2 would be 1200.
would that be good enough or did you mean 1200 gph out of one powerhead? |

No, 1200 total would be more than enough for FOWLR and even some softies.

All of this talk about gph is pointless. There is no rule for how much flow you need. As long as it keeps the detritus suspended and keeps the coral polyps moving around the corals don't care if you have 20x turnover or 60x turnover. It's not the size that counts, it's what you do with it.
