Do hermit crabs eat Chaeto?

I could swear my hermit crab is eating my cheato (he's been in the middle of it just chomping down). There's plenty of live rock with algae and live sand in the fuge that he could graze on, but he's been moving around on the chaeto for the past 3-4 days.

Anyone else experience this?

I have never see any of my hermits eat cheato. Grant it, I will see them in the mix of it but they are usually cleaning out the detritus that builds up in there.
