rerolling the tank
So I have downsized from my 65g to a 30g and the only thing I'm saving are my few fish and some LR. I have never been able to eradicate the cyano and it has killed every non-fish in my tank.I have also replaced every test I have and have reverted back to PC's for now (no more halides running up my aps bill :P). My tests were always showing 0 trates/trites/phos, ph was on the low side but the cyano has some responsibility in that (vicious cycle). Lots of skimmate, wc's, and frustration couldn't get rid of the cyano buildup. I'm saving what I can and starting over.
I was able to take out some LR and keep it in a holding tub with no lights (once out of my tank and away from lights the cyano went away) so it cycled the new tank. So to re-seed the tank with pods and such, do you think a piece of LR from a healthy tank or LFS would be the best option? Theres some coraline patches that made it thru but no sponge, no pods, nothing that I can see. I know the bacteria are there, otherwise the new tank wouldn't be cycled! Any other advice for my restart? (besides wc wc wc)

cyano goes away with time and nutrient management, starting over like your doing is not going to help the problem
