Cleaning tank Glass

So I am starting to have purple and green coraline growing on my tank glass. I have one of those magnet things to clean the glass but it is pretty worthless. What can I use to somewhat scrape if off the glass without hurting anything in my tank or messing up my glass.

I went to HD and bought one of those plastic paint scrapers, I have an acrylic tank and it hasn't left any scratches yet.

A old credit card works well or a razor blade.

Razor blade takes it off with little effort.

There are a few scrapers out there to use. Most come with a metal scraper for glass & a plastic scraper for acrylic tanks.

After you get the glass clean, there is one way to help keep it clean.

Everytime you look at the tank......Use the MAG cleaner & go across the glass. This keeps anything from sticking to the glass.

Sometimes I use the MAG float 10 times a day.

yeah, the secret is daily magnet cleaning.

or you can be lazy like me, and have to spend hours scraping it all by hand, sponge, plastic scraper, etc.

I have used a razor blade for years.

Buy one of those packs with a 100 or so in them.

Never use one twice, rust can form and create an uneven surface

Drag it carefully in a 45 degree angle approximatly, avoid making curves as you may run it up on the corner and scratch the glass.

Don't run it under the silicone seam.

Only do it when you have enough time to do so and are not rushed.

Make a fist, and set back all of your coral and rockwork away from any pane you wish to be able to clean. This will make it easier, and less odds of scrathing the glass to get around obstacles.

Keep track of them and don't loose them in the tank, if you do all of this, you can keep you glass in great condition for years.

Hehehe.

What ever card that you have the highest balance on works the best.........because you may not be using it anytime soon.

Okay so I just cleaned the glass with my Elephant Bar expired gift card. Thought the fish might enjoy the picture on it. LOL....I will start using the magnet daily and see if that helps and then see about getting a scraper. I am not to good with razor blades and can definitely see myself scratching the glass. Thanks for all your feedback.

I got an Easy Scraper for my mag float and I'll never go back to anything else. It makes cleaning the glass a breeze.
