waterproofing the inside of the stand

Do you guys waterproof the inside of you stand? I just got a new oceanic tank/stand, but I always see that when you run a sump the inside of stand deteriorates easily.

A guy a couple blocks away has his stand waterproofed and insilated so it can hold 6" of water in case of equipment failure. It has come in handy for him a couple times. Kind of a smart thing to do IMO.

Yes i did my stand for my 300 gallon, its saved me twice, I caulked all the inner seams, and then went to lowes and bought an epoxy based wood paint used for sealin decks, its gray in color and works great, water just beads up on it.

I just used the roof paint on the bottom inside part of my stand. The elastomeric stuff.

Ill probably try that. The other ideas sound good too just in case of a failure.

I built the floor of my stand with a lip and laid in the rubber material that builders use under showers, you can find it at Lowes and HD, then used outdoor latex paint on everything else. I figure the rubber pan will hold about 30 gallons plus before spilling over onto the floor.

I never thought about making the stand able to hold water in case of a flood. Your all geniuses!

Hell I didn't even waterproof mine. I guess over time the salt creep could do some damage, but hopefully by then i'm in something much larger than my 75.
